Aristotle 4 Causes - Essay
Aristotle used the Four Causes to discuss a things’s transferral from potentiality to truth. The material cause, formal cause, efficient cause and final cause take something from an idea to truth. They are accurate to a degree however have a number of defects and faults. A problem with the four causes is that they rely on experience. Plato argued that experience was unreliable as it changes from individual to person– we can not make certain that chairs look the exact same to everyone.
Also, Aristotle has no concrete evidence that the material world is the source of understanding– numerous would rely on religion and faith as the source of reality. If it could be disproved it would suggest that it was inaccurate but it has not been.
